For the last ten years I have been the wine columnist for The Weekend Australian Magazine. A recent article about the fabulous new wines being made in the Hunter Valley - and why more people should be drinking them - is typical ... (more)

I am wine editor for the monthly Australian Gourmet Traveller magazine - which sounds cushy, but can be gruelling, let me tell you: last year I laid my liver on the line to find out whether it’s it true that cheap grog gives you a worse hangover than the expensive stuff ... (more)

I also write a regular wine and cheese column (with renowned cheese importer and writer, Will Studd) and contribute features and reviews to Gourmet Traveller’s bi-monthly Wine Magazine. A feature on the Howard family’s Somerset property in the Hunter Valley introduced readers to one of this country’s best - but least-known - vineyards ... (more)

In the UK I write a monthly wine column for Olive, a great food and travel magazine published by the BBC. At the beginning of the year I made some bold (some would say foolhardy) predictions about what we’ll be drinking in the near future ... (more)

And I’ve recently started a regular column of features and wine reviews for G, Australia’s first ‘green lifestyle’ magazine. I’ll be focussing on sustainable, organic and biodynamic winemaking, and issues such as the impact of climate change on Australia’s wine industry ... (more)

As well as these regular gigs, I contribute articles to a number of magazines around the world. One of my favourites is Wine & Spirits in the US. These guys are great to write for, as they’re not afraid to run long, meaty stories: my latest for them is an in-depth look at what makes the Barossa Valley’s old shiraz vines so special ... (more)

The revamped, reinvigorated Wine & Spirit magazine in the UK has also published a number of my articles over the years, including one on the exciting new wave of innovative, quality-minded boutique Australian winemakers ... (more)

And I contribute to the UK’s Decanter magazine, in which my most recent article was an introduction to cabernet sauvignon and merlot in Australia ... (more)

I also write for a number of wine trade magazines such as Harpers, the UK wine trade’s weekly news journal, where I have a bi-monthly opinion column, in which I get to rant on about things like Australia’s unique ‘terroirs’ ... (more)

I occasionally contribute to Australia’s Wine Business Monthly. Like Wine & Spirits in the US, they like to run stories that are a little more unusual (and a little longer) - stories such as this one, looking at how an understanding of our wine history can help us create a better wine future ... (more)

And I don’t write for the Australian and New Zealand Wine Industry Journal any more, but I’ve had so many requests for my article advising winemakers on how to send samples and press releases to the media that I thought it might be a good idea to put it here ... (more)
